The award was established in honor of the late Glenda Bluhm, a trailblazer who worked tirelessly to foster strong business ties to cultivate women advancing in industry through science and technical opportunities. The award’s purpose is to recognize women who support the defense of the United States through the use of science, technology, and partnerships between industry and the small business community. Ms. Reed was honored with the award for her service to the Hampton Roads community and for making a difference in the lives of women in the defense industry. Ms. Reed was presented with the award at WID Greater Hampton Roads Chapter’s “Eighth Annual Professional Development Day” in Virginia Beach on September 21, 2017.
